This page of Garden Related Mailing Lists was originally compiled by John M. Sears. For reasons he explaines at his homepage, he no longer updates this list, and it may even disappear altogether.
That's why I copied the page for safe-keeping, so you may still use the information on it.

Please let me know (marion@schippie.nl) of any changes or additions to be made to this list.

Mailing lists are on-line bulletin boards - post a question and it is sent to all the members of the list. Someone surely knows the answer. And if it's you, your response to someone else's post may be just what everyone is looking for.

And better yet, they are free (subject to the cost of your own internet connection, silly).

Once you have subscribed to a mailing list SAVE THE WELCOMING MESSAGE!!! This will give you information about how to use the mailing list BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY will explain HOW TO QUIT the list if you should wish to stop receiving mail from everyone on the list.

Just one bit of advice: Once subscribed, lurk around for a while to get a "feel" for the group. You'll find that each has its own personality and you'll be much more comfortable once you've figured it out.

To help ease things along, you can subscribe to these lists from here. Just click on the list name and your browser will bring up your mailer. Anything you see in brackets are for you to fill in the blank. In fact, I find it easiest to highlight what needs to be put in the message and copy it, then click on the listname, and then, once the mailer comes up, put the message in the mailer, editing to put in my name and other info.

If you are anal retentive and only want posts that are on topic, DO NOT SUBSCRIBE to this list! Suggestions to cut down the volume or to stay on topic are considered flames and are dealt with accordingly. Additionally, the list maintains huge searchable archives - so a suggestion to search the archives is not a putdown, but a real suggestion of where you might find pertinent answers to your questions. • GARDENANONYMOUS - is a support group for compulsive gardeners. We'll support each other in breaking the "compulsive" garden habit. We'll see what ideas we can come up with. Our goal is to move gardening back to the "fun activity" rather than a compulsive activity again for you. This is NOT a list for chat about gardening chores or plant selection. It's serious intent is to help people renew the rest of their life and relationships by breaking the compusive gardening habit.
